Mum-vember at Lan Su Chinese Garden

If you are looking for something "garden worthy" to do in Portland this weekend, come enjoy the fall color and the lovely chrysanthemums at Lan Su Chinese Garden!

Every year, the Garden displays over 50 different varieties of  specialty chrysanthemums. This year, La Su is hosting its first floral design exhibition showcasing 25 spectacular floral arrangements by local designers. The exhibit runs through Sunday, November 9, 2014.

No worries though if you miss the exhibit, Lan Su is also hosting garden plant talks at 11am every Saturday all month on a variety of topics such as how to care for your chrysanthemums, pruning techniques and building backyard habitats for birds and wildlife.

Even though I love coming to the garden for the Mum display, my favorite activity is to just walk the paths, check out the plants up close and enjoy the intense oranges, yellows and reds of the changing leaves. Oh, and of course go into the teahouse to warm up with a steaming cup of chrysanthemum tea!

  2. Gorgeous blooms, hmmm? I love that orange spider mum! Too bad I am not so good at pinching the side stems off to produce those huge blooms. LOL.
